Back-lit Purple Raspberry Neon by David Humphreys

The dog is wrapped in a long nose

of birds, trees and flowers humming

in unison set to tear into anything out

of the ordinary. Walking through the

blown glass moment, still air turned

concentric circles from pebble splash

and sudden gasp of torn silk you

suddenly come upon it and are instantly

shot through, stopped short by its radio-

active flower, memory tantalizing up in

silver bubbles to the surface this student

is rubbed from the tarnished lamp genie

sketching statues in Florence in a spotless

white smock, nestling core womb seed that

finally sprouts and shakes a breezy lime

green leaf in sunshine as the dog wags a lazy

tail turning the corner heading home.
